It was earlier announced that two-time Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy was set to direct the next and much-anticipated series in the Marvel franchise. The news has now been made official by Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.
Ms. Marvel focuses on Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a Pakistani-American teen based in New Jersey. The superhero first appeared in 2014 as Marvel Comics’ first Muslim character to star in her own comic series, and she will become Marvel Studios’ first onscreen Muslim hero.

Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon are directors of the project. The cast also includes Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.
Ms. Marvel, a newer character to Marvel comics has grabbed the world’s imagination. The Original Series from Marvel Studios will release later in 2021 on DisneyPlus.
