A sessions court in Islamabad has awarded death sentence to prime accused Zahir Jaffar in Noor Muqaddam murder case. The verdict was announced a few hours ago, which was earlier reserved on Tuesday. Two co-accused Iftikhar and Jameel, members of Zahir’s household staff, were sentenced 10 years in jail, while others, including parents of Zahir Jaffar were acquitted. Noor Muqaddam was found murdered at Zahir Jaffer’s residence in Islamabad on 20th July, 2021.
Social media is filled with sighs of relief as justice has prevailed; many celebrities, activities, notable personalities have shared their happiness on the right and timely verdict.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has welcomed the verdict.
“The verdict of Noor Muqaddam murder case was given within four months and police and the prosecution has timely fulfilled their responsibilities. This is the justice that the people of Pakistan expect,” he tweeted.
He expressed hope that all institutions associated with judiciary will meet these expectations and the rule of law will be ensured.

Mansha Pasha is glad that the case concluded in a short time.
Glad the courts have reached a verdict. Despite how it may have felt, when compared to others, this case was concluded in a short time & i hope such is done more often in our courts.
May this verdict give the family some justice tho it cant replace what was lost. #NoorMuqaddam— Mansha Pasha (@manshapasha) February 24, 2022
Anoushey Ashraf shared that Noor bought hope to us even in her death.
Shining bright today are we Noor? Even in death you bring hope and light to so many of us. Your parents are every girls parent in Pakistan today. Your sister is my sister. They stood up for us all. I hope they sleep well tonight knowing you’re watching over them. #NoorMuqaddam

There was always this fear regarding Zahir’s parents avoiding prosecution:https://t.co/8LZqCtNtPj

.. and the pain of her loss will weigh heavily on all our hearts. But the family fought not just for Noor, but for the safety and security of all women, for a sliver of hope in our judicial system.
Everyone following this case knows what they had to endure in the process.— Osman Khalid Butt (@aClockworkObi) February 24, 2022
I’ve heard Zakir Jaffer & Asmat Adamjee’s acquittal was celebrated by their supporters. I don’t know if this verdict will be appealed by the Mukaddam family.
But once their euphoria wears off, I pray Zakir & Asmat realize their role in creating and enabling this monster.— Osman Khalid Butt (@aClockworkObi) February 24, 2022
Ushna Shah expressed that she will celebrate justice once the murderer hangs.
Will celebrate justice once he hangs, which could take years. Side note: If I held someone hostage & killed them, & my middle-class mother was aware of this the entire time & aided me… she’d hang too (or at least spend her life in prison). Just saying.

Armeena Rana Khan hopes that Noor Muqaddam’s family “can start to heal.”
Whether he hangs or not remains to be seen but Jaffer is now a convicted murderer – On record. The sentence is but a small consolation for the Mukaddam family and I pray that they can start to heal. #NoorMuqaddam #RIP 🕊
