Kudos to Coke Studio 2020 for opening the season with a groundbreaking anthem on women empowerment. Na Tutteya Ve is an original composition that marks Meesha Shafi’s return to the music platform after 4 years. The song also features the equally talented Fariha Pervez, Sehar Gul Khan, Sanam Marvi, Wajiha Naqvi, and Zara Madani.
The song narrates the story of resilience and an unbroken heart. In a time where women suffer inequality, Na Tutteya Ve seems to be a brilliant way to open the season. It’s a collaboration of some of the most powerful female singers we have in Pakistan and is a strong collective voice against oppression. Despite the challenges, the lyrics speak of being unbreakable.
“To all the resilient women who don’t let anything break them,” Meesha shared the song dedicating it to her tribe! Gender equality is a huge topic of discussion throughout the world today and this song talks about just that from a woman’s perspective.
Originally, Meesha was supposed to sing it solo, however, the results are better and more hard-hitting as a collective voice. The Punjabi rap Meesha does at the end of the song packs a powerful punch to the presentation and that colorful sari from Khaadi definitely has a fan base of its own.
Fariha Pervez, Sehar Gul Khan, Sanam Marvi, Wajiha Naqvi, and Zara Madan all played their parts to perfection which, without a doubt, contributes to the ultimate success. The song is the perfect combination of powerful vocals, great lyrics, and an amazing composition.
Veteran musician Rohail Hyatt made his comeback as a producer this season and the songs were recorded under careful management and maintenance of COVID-19 SOPs which resulted in both singers and musicians being recorded separately. Brilliant effort to produce music with proper social distancing and technology, we must say.
