News of the Day: Adnan Sarwar is back and he has another great film with him. At least we think it’s going to be great because we have faith in his directorial abilities ever since we saw his first film, Shah. Also, Adnan is introducing a new kind of film to our cinema; his latest film is female centric.
Here’s what we know so far. This is the second instalment from his Heroes Trilogy, the first being Shah. It’s based on the real life story of Zenith Irfan, known as the ‘Motorcycle girl’ who is the first Pakistani woman to have made a solo motorcycle journey through the northern regions of the country. Zenith’s journey was covered extensively by major publications from all over the world, such as CNN, New York Times and Vice.
“I have always felt that those of us who work in the Film or TV industry have a responsibility to tell stories which can influence our society in a positive manner, while providing entertainment to the audience,” said Adnan in a press release. “Zenith’s story is important because at such a young age, she is doing things that challenge gender stereotypes which are deeply engrained in the fabric of our society. This film will be my little effort towards inspiring a future where hopefully, the women of our country will be more empowered, truly independent and unshackled from archaic taboos that hold back their progress”.
The film will be shot in Lahore and along the Karakoram highway, which sounds exciting yet nerve wrecking because the highway is beautiful but it will be risky shooting a film there. The cast of the film has not yet been finalised but we do know that the film will be released by the end of this year. We’re really looking forward to this cinematic venture, it sounds like it’s going to be a real game-changer!
