Hamza Ali Abbasi as Salahuddin

Hamza Ali Abbasi as Salahuddin

I’m Salahuddin. I’m such a handsome bloke of a gentleman that any woman in my path falls for me. Unfortunately I’m not as sharp as I’m handsome because I tend to lead women on without realizing what I’ve done until it’s too late. I did it with Mannu and didn’t have the backbone (read money) to reciprocate and now this office girl is sending out all the needful messages that I don’t pick up on. I truly believe that she cares because she’s just a nice person; that she’ll order my dinner and turn up at my home with breakfast and ask me what I like in women and talk to my mother in America and – hold your breath – even have pictures of my niece to cheer me up just because she wants to be a good friend. Yeah, I am pretty slow that way and I wear a perpetually bewildered expression to prove it. I also moonlight as a ‘buzurg’ in case there are any other innocent girls looking for advice out there.

I’m Mannu. My producers and directors realized – within the first few episodes – that boisterous and fiery heroines don’t get the ratings and so they turned me into a sobbing mess. I’ve been miserable (and pregnant) for most of the story, which the viewers love. I come from a very close-knit family but the idiots don’t seem to realize how miserable I am. I am miserable but I’m also obstinate so I choose to change diapers and take Mikail’s bullshit even if there are options that could easily save me the misery. I want to be miserable to get back at the people who denied me my happiness. And I’ll cut my nose to spite my face because that’s what my fans seem to want!

I’m Jeena and I work in Salahuddin’s office. What I do there is anyone’s guess (and also irrelevant) because all I need to do is look pretty and hover around the boss all day. I even traded my Sana Safinaz silk tops for Khaadi and Sapphire kurtas to appeal to him because you can take a man out of Hyderabad but you can’t take Hyderabad out of a man; he likes simple and traditional girls! Oh, but he’s so dreamy that I am willing to completely change for him!

Gauher Rasheed as Mikail

I’m Mikail and I seem to be the only character in this play who isn’t a whimpering mess. I’m doing a pretty good job of being pissy and hateful and I really don’t give a shit for anyone, parents included. I married this girl to please my parents but then keeping them happy became too much of a chore. All I want to do is drink and gamble.

I’m Jamil and I’m the perfect example of how a leopard can change spots. From being a lying and conniving cheat of a bavarchi I’ve gone to becoming an honest, earnest and educated right hand man to the ‘Boss’ and the millions he inherited (which had nothing to do with my change of heart). I am the perfect example of how a man can change!
