After his successful performance in Coke Studio 11 with ‘Baalkada’, the versatile singer Jimmy Khan announced earlier this month that he will be releasing his first live EP album named Tich Button. The singer has now released the first single from the album, ‘Nikka Mota Bajra’.
The album aims to revive folk music through traditional ‘Jimmy Khan Band’ style performances. It will be a mix of contemporary, folk and traditional music. And this song is a testimony to that claim.
The song channels the 90’s music vibe adequately with the live orchestra performance. What truly stands out is the simplicity of the music video; the band dressed in plain white outfits, Jimmy moving around the other band members and just casually enjoying himself along with others makes it a song you would want to listen to on repeat.

The folk song which is commonly sung at Punjabi pre-wedding festivities is a celebration of commitment a person exhibits through the course of life. Sung from a woman’s perspective, it establishes her firm belief in herself and how she manages her relationships.
What makes this impressive is that it has been shot in one take with a revolving camera. While listening to the song, you will definitely notice your feet tapping to the beat because it’s catchy and has spunk which is unlike most contemporary songs we listen to. The closing acapella bit by the band is phenomenal and Jimmy has managed to make a solid impression with the first release from the album.
We cannot wait to listen to what else the band has in store but for now, listen to the first track:
