After breaking social barriers and stereotypes with her fashion photo-shoot, transgender model Kami Sid announced her upcoming short-film with GrayScale productions. Co-produced by Rizvilia Productions, Rani has been written and directed by Hammad Rizvi. Now after a long wait, the trailer for the film is finally out, showing us what to expect.
As told to us earlier, the film revolves around the life of a young transgender, Rani, who sells toys for a living. Rani then takes in an abandoned baby who she wants to raise as her own, which of course goes against the norms of society. The teaser though, doesn’t reveal as much, and focuses more on Rani’s everyday life and how she is treated by society at large.
Set in the hustling bustling city of Karachi, showing the streets and busy life one goes through everyday makes the visual more relatable. Rani’s mellow demeanor is interesting to see, since anyone who has met Kami knows how flamboyant she is!
The release date for the film is yet to be announced, though we do know it’s going to release at an upcoming film festival.
