Director of cult-classic films like Don and Dil Chahta Hai, Farhan Akhtar has helmed films that turn into instant fan favourites. However, if you were hoping for a sequel to some of his popular films, the actor-director’s response may not be something you like.
Talking to the Press Trust of India, Farhan confirmed that although there won’t be a Dil Chahta Hai sequel because that would be like ‘forcing the issue,’ there’s chance of a Don sequel with Shah Rukh Khan.
“The story of Don allows you to take the film forward. It is plot-driven. But a film like Dil Chahta Hai is so much about the feel, the characters, the vibe of how people are,” Farhan told PTI.

The actor whose film Lucknow Central alongside Diana Penty is all set to release soon also talked about how he feels that DCH came at a time when there was a ‘certain energy’.
“I feel there was a certain energy, mood and a time in my life when Dil Chahta Hai happened and that’s why I wrote it. Now if I think of (a sequel), I will be forcing the issue. It is going to go from ‘what I wanted to say’ to now ‘something more should be added’. What was great about it when it happened was there was no design,” Farhan said.
Although the actor feels that even Don 3 is too far off, we certainly hope it works out and we get to see the SRK-Farhan partnership soon.
