Renowned Pakistani film, television and radio actor Sajjad Kishwar breathed his last on Tuesday in Rawalpindi after a protracted illness. He was 89 years old. He is survived by a son, two daughters and grandchildren.
He was born in the early 1930s in Ludhiana, Punjab in what was then known as British India. Kishwar, who began his career in the entertainment industry in 1976, was a recipient of the Tamgha e Imtiaz, as well as Radio Pakistan’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.
The veteran actor had around 100 films and 1000 television drama serials to his credit. One of his most prominent roles was in the drama serial Raizgari.
Kishwar’s funeral prayers were offered at Shah di Talian Graveyard at Committee Chowk, Rawalpindi. It was attended by a large crowd of people.
