Veteran actor Rashid Naz passed away at the age of 73 in Islamabad on Monday morning. His daughter Madiha Rizvi posted the unfortunate news on her Instagram account.

“Our dearest Baba Rashid Naz Has left this world peacefully this morning. Please recite Surah Fateha for the departed soul,” she wrote along with a picture.

According to reports, the actor had been suffering from health issues for a long time. His body was brought to Peshawar for his funeral which was held today (Monday) at an eidgah on Charsadda Road.

Several artists from the film and television industry took to social media to pay tribute and express grief.

Born in Peshawar in 1948, he had a career spanning over 4 decades. In 1971, he started his television career as an actor in Pushto television play. His first Urdu play was Aik Tha Gaoon in 1973.

Rashid Naz made his big-screen debut with Syed Noor’s Dakait and was highly appreciated for his roles in Shoaib Mansoor’s films Khuda Ke Liye and Verna.

He also appeared in various Pashto, Hindko and Urdu tv shows.
