Director turned actor Uday Chopra may not have won hearts with his acting skills (though he did get nominated for his debut in Mohabbatein), but his directorial career has been quite something. Starting off as Assistant Director for films like Lamhe and Dilwale Dulhania Lejayenge, the actor then went on to co-produce Grace of Monaco starring Nicole Kidman.
However, Chopra’s latest reason to be in the limelight is not for his career, it’s the fact that the actor has gained weight. Recent pictures of Chopra clicked outside his house, have gone viral because he has gained weight since we last saw him on screen in Dhoom 3. Yet again, people at large are unable to let something as natural as weight gain go. From Aishwarya Rai to Adnan Sami Khan, and more recently Fardeen Khan, public figures are endlessly being body shamed. This issue doesn’t only arise internationally; we have local celebrities like Hareem Farooq and even Sarwat Gilani who have been a victim of this crass behaviour.
While society seems to progress, body shaming seems to be one of the issues that are yet to be resolved.
