Bilal Lashari finally chose a very auspicious day – the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan — to release the official trailer of his magnum opus The Legend of Maula Jatt (TLMJ). And received a much-deserved roaring applause for the masterpiece as contemporaries, fans and every film fanatic loved the dark and mysterious tale of an iconic Maula Jatt.
After many delays and controversies, the Punjabi epic film is now all set to release on October 13th nationwide. The trailer that released on Sunday gave us a glimpse into the legendary fictional rivalry between two larger than life characters, the local hero Maula Jatt and the leader of a gang Noori Natt.
The 2-minute 47-second trailer has an official description that states: “From times untold where legends are written in soil with blood, a hero is born. Maula Jatt, a fierce prizefighter with a tortured past seeks vengeance against his arch nemesis Noori Natt, the most feared warrior in the land of Punjab. Loyalties are challenged and families torn apart in this epic tale of truth, honour and justice.”
Directed by Bilal Lashari, The Legend of Maula Jatt is touted to be the most expensive film to come out of Pakistan so far. The trailer gives enough proof with extraordinary sets, costumes, production value, cinematography and VFX that surpasses any local cinematic venture attempted before. It seems that the story revolves around a rivalry between clans; as Fawad Khan stars in the role of the legendary Maula Jatt and Hamza Ali Abbasi plays his arch nemesis, Noori Natt. The Legend of Maula Jatt reimagines this clash between two arch-rivals with blood, gore, glory, romance and honour in the finest, most dramatic and quite violent way.
As evident by the trailer, the story takes us back in time when wars are fought with armies of clans on horses, in battles arenas with gandasas and no mercy. It begins with a mother sadly exclaiming that she “could never have imagined that with the birth of her son, she was bringing the angel of death who would doom the entire village.”
The film’s Punjabi dialogues have a unique flow and rhyme that makes them more appealing as they resonate with the ferocious imagery and intense music. With life and integrity on line, the stakes of the battle are so high and so is the charisma of Pakistan’s most favourite on-screen jori, Fawad and Mahira.
Fawad Khan will be making a comeback on big screen after years of hiatus and so will Hamza Ali Abbasi. The intense and epic hero origin story is brimming with phenomenal performances and classic dialogues. With a screenplay by Bilal Lashari and dialogues by Nasir Adeeb, it is a hard reboot of the 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt. The ensemble cast also features Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Shafqat Cheema and Nayyer Ejaz amongst others.
The film is produced by Ammara Hikmat under the joint venture of Encyclomedia & Lashari films in association with AAA Motion Pictures. The filmmakers have partnered with Geo Films as their presenting partner. The film will be locally distributed by Nadeem Mandviwalla of Mandviwalla Entertainment. Internationally, the film will be distributed by MovieGoers Entertainment.
