The 7-member PISA’21 jury reveal

The Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) are all set to return with their second edition, PISA’21. This year’s show is scheduled to take place at the glamorous Madinat Jumeirah venue in Dubai on November 5, 2021.

The organizers have now revealed this year’s seven-member jury that includes leading veteran actors, fashion, music and entertainment journalists, critics, researchers, analysts and celebrity social media influencers.

Leading the jury is the much-acclaimed veteran actor, director, producer and writer Javed Sheikh, who has years of experience and credibility. In his close to five decades long career, he has made huge contributions towards the industry and created a huge impact.

Critic and analyst Aamna Haider Isani, Publisher and Editor-at-large at Something Haute and Editor Instep, The News as well as Hassan Choudary, Managing Editor and Co-Publisher of Something Haute are also part of the prestigious jury. While Aamna brings over 20 years of experience in covering fashion and entertainment, Hassan is a widely recognized TV critic and well-respected talk show host whose easy banter with celebrities is countered with objective professionalism.

Other than these, the jury includes leading fashion and entertainment journalist Maliha Rehman who works for the Dawn Media Group, Quetta-based journalist Rafay Mehmood whose expertise has revolved around the creative industries and the study of celebrity culture and fandom, giving him a deep insight into Viewer’s Choice popularity in the myriad genres, musician and writer Ali Raj who brings a unique perspective with his research studies on North Indian musical traditions and the relationship with Indo-Islamic aesthetics and technology, and lastly, Waqar Zaka who is regarded as one of the most pervasive and inspiring social media influencers as well as an entertainer and popular TV show host whose experience will be invaluable in the Best YouTuber and Best Influencer categories respectively.

The seven-member jury will help nominate and finalize the myriad of Critics’ Choice and Viewers’ Choice winners in the categories of Film, Television, Music, Fashion and Best YouTuber and Best Influencer as well as awarding The Life Time Achievement Award to a male and female recipients respectively.

Apart from PISA, Javed Sheikh and Rafay Mehmood are also on Pakistan’s official Oscar Selection Committee 2021.
