T-Series has yet again butchered a beautiful song by a Pakistani singer. This time it is Bollywood’s very own iconic song Aap Jaisa Koi from the film Qurbani (1980) which introduced the world to the magical voice of Nazia Hassan.
Yes, not many are aware of this fact that the late Pakistani singer started her professional musical career with a song for a Bollywood film. The song became a huge success in India and she became the first Pakistani and also the youngest (at age 15) to win the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback.
Now that very song which was earlier filmed on Zeenat Aman and Feroz Khan has been remixed, rather wrecked, by musician Tanishk Bagchi for the film An Action Hero. Starring Malaika Arora as a muse in the song with a guest appearance by the film’s hero Ayushmann Khurrana, this rendition is an absolute horror fest audio-visually.
T-Series, in their usual fashion, have ditched all the beautiful elements of the composition, especially its signature music. The new version of Aap Jaisa Koi, sung by heavily auto-tuned by Zahrah S Khan and Altamash Faridi, is beyond redemption. While Zeenat Aman also played a girl dancing at a bar like Malaika, Aman kept it classy while gently teasing at the same time. Malaika’s version has completely thrown caution out of the window which is in complete contrast to the beautiful lyrics of the song.
To justify that they have also included additional lyrics to the disco beat. The visuals are not appealing despite Malaika’s moves because the choreography doesn’t suit the beat or the lyrics. Undoubtedly, this is a song we don’t want to hear.
T-Series has tweeted the song with a caption “When the OG Diva met our Action Hero & the rest is history!” Well, literally the beautiful memories of the song have turned into a thing of the past because of this tacky number.
And thankfully, this is a popular opinion on both sides of the border. Indians, Pakistanis, music lovers from all over the world shared their verdict on Twitter and echoed our thoughts. Have a look:
@tanishkbagchi and Bhushan Kumar should be jailed for life got destroying all the old nostalgic song. #AapJaisaKoi https://t.co/9UdX7MVUS3

Can Bollywood leave iconic Pakistani songs alone?? They are ruining every single song of ours by remaking it. Apologize to Nazia Hassan our Queen https://t.co/j3gbfay2Ra
