After the huge impact of his directorial debut, Toilet-Ek Prem Katha, Shree Narayan Singh is ready to direct another film with a social message, starring Shahid Kapoor as the lead. The film, tentatively titled Roshni, deals with the issue of the power distribution system in India where innocent consumers are being asked to pay exorbitant bills without having consumed that much electricity.

The film will star Shahid Kapoor in the role of a lawyer who decides to fight the unethical system. The actor is currently shooting for Padmavati, starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, and will begin shooting for Roshni soon after.

Films with a social message have become popular rapidly, and it has to be admitted that Bollywood deals with them very strategically. The right amount of humour, masala and entertainment have brought hits like PK, 3 Idiots, and of course Toilet-Ek Prem Katha. Of course there have also been more sober films like Pink and Taare Zameen Par that have done phenomenally.

No doubt expectations are going to by high after the success of Toilet, and the film will probably be something that we as Pakistanis can also relate to, with our endless electricity issues.
