Bollywood’s coming-of-age story Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (ELKDTAL) has been creating buzz owing to its concept. In a recent development, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (aka Oscars) has requested a copy of the film’s screenplay for the permanent Core Collection.

Materials in the Core Collection are made available for study only in the reading room. The Academy’s library prohibits any copying and circulation of the scripts. The library is a research space open to all – students, filmmakers and writers – as well as those with general interests make up the user profile.

ELKDTAL depicts the story of a small town girl named Sweety (played by Sonam Kapoor) who is in love with another girl. However, her family wants her to marry a guy as they are not aware of her secret. This journey of acceptance, love and familial bonds brings the father-daughter duo Anil Kapoor-Sonam Kapoor together on screen for the first time.

The film has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, whose banner VVC Films had previously sent copies of the Broken Horses and Sanju scripts for the Academy’s library.
