Streaming platforms like Netflix are an easy source of entertainment and comfort, especially in times like these when the world has been hit by a pandemic. The concept of web shows is growing globally and what’s even better is that the local industry has also started to explore the digital medium now.

Apart from just releasing web content, Pakistan is also set to explore the mechanism and launch its own version of Netflix soon.

Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, took to social media on Friday to share that a Pakistani version of Netflix is all set to be launched.

“We at Ministryof Science and Technology are all set to launch Pakistan’s first OTT TV (Pak version of Netflix) Technology part is complete have asked PEMRA to prepare a guideline on content and we will be all set to launch in PPP mode, it’ll be just another humble contribution,” shared the minister on Twitter.

PEMRA has been asked to set guidelines for the content that will be screened on the medium.

“Can someone – literally anyone else prepare this content guideline,” requested Osman Khalid Butt. “PEMRA issued a show-cause notice to Udaari over ‘immoral content’ because it was highlighting child abuse,” he stated.

 

 

Actor, Shaan Shahid, on the other hand, thinks it’s a brilliant initiative. “It’s a brilliant effort by
@fawadchaudhry it is time we make our presence in the entertainment arena of the world a new market for the content developers of Pakistan will give them freedom to work . Thankyou,” he shared his views on Twitter.
