Murder Mystery, a comedy film starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Ansiton, earned the best opening weekend ever for a Netflix film, as just within three days of the release 30,869,863 accounts had streamed the movie.
The film is about Adam Sandler (a cop) and Jennifer Aniston (a hairdresser), who have been married for 15 long years, making an overdue honeymoon trip to Europe. They somehow end up being framed for a billionaire’s murder and the rest of the film revolves around how they went on to solve the murder and put the culprit behind bars.
About 31 million accounts watched the comedy on its opening weekend; this is the largest audience that has been garnered as of yet for a film produced by Netflix.
Netflix’s PR Twitter account released a big “Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston breaking news alert†on Tuesday night.
The tweet hyped up the claim that “30,869,863 accounts watched Murder Mystery in its first 3 days — the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix Film. 13,374,914 accounts in the US and Canada, and 17,494,949 more worldwide.â€
