Marina Khan has reservations about the release of upcoming Pakistani film Yaara Vey because the makers have not abided by the contractual obligations and she still hasn’t been paid the promised amount for her role in the film.
On Sunday, she posted a poster from the movie and voiced her reservations in a post in which she addressed her Instagram followers.
“To all my Instagram followers. I am VERY UPSET that this movie is being released as I was NOT paid by the producers the full amount they promised me,” she stated.
She added that they kept delaying the contract signing and it is in her power to put a stop to the film’s release. “Technically, if I wanted, I could probably put a stay order on the release but I am lazy and frankly, don’t give a rat’s a*s anymore. To the producers of this film, all I can say is SHAME on you.”
Later on Tuesday, the official Instagram page of the film posted a statement on behalf of Beeline Productions to respond to Marina’s claims.
They have clarified that the film was produced by another Dubai-based production house called Elite Films in association with Beeline Productions. The former had full responsibility of production while the latter for financial investment. According to the statement, Beeline paid Elite the full amount pertaining to “full management of artists, resources, production expenses” and were supplied with receipts.
However, Beeline in the statement said that the owner of Elite Films discontinued production without notice and failed to respond to them. The matter of impending payments has come to light only recently for Beeline Productions, and now they are dealing with it through “legal proceedings” with Elite Films, which has signed the contracts with the artists.
The production house said they believe in transparency and “will not stand idly by to misconduct and malpractices”.
“We do understand and acknowledge the concerns of Ms. Marina Khan… With earnest regards, we seek to clarify, that as the sole sponsors of Yaara Vey and honorable professionals, we believe in transparency and will not stand idly by to misconduct and malpractices in our, or our ventures name.”
Yaara Vey is all set to hit theatres on September 16th. The film’s trailer was recently released. Directed by Manish Pawar, the movie features Sami Khan, Aleeze Nasser, Faizan Khwaja, Jawed Shaikh, Marina Khan and Ali Sikander.
