The Coke VS Pepsi debate has been furious since the beginning of time, and this is taking it to the next level! We’re gearing up for a very musical month as Pepsi gears up to air its first episode of Battle of the Bands, which will be followed up by Coke Studio’s first episode of the 10th season on Independence Day.
Fawad Khan has been working those vocals for his comeback on Pepsi BOTB
Both Coke and Pepsi are mega brands and the projects are highly anticipated; we can’t help but wonder which will take the lead. While Coke Studio has a decade of experience behind it, it has been a while since the hiatus of Pepsi’s BOTB, plus Coke has a number of stars and Pepsi seems to be banking on three biggies. But wait, we hear there are surprises up their sleeve as well! This competition is fierce!
Let’s weigh in on the details of both shows…
Colour Coding
Coke Studio: As always, Coke will be predominantly black and red. The interior of the set they have recorded on previously has the red tinge going, and we predict it will be the same this time too. Even wardrobes are colour coded.
Pepsi BOTB: From the looks of the main poster and branding, Pepsi is playing on the blue and white theme.
Star Power
Coke Studio: Amongst many others (disclosed and undisclosed), the mega stars who have been announced on board this season are Ali Zafar, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Hamza.
Pepsi BOTB: The main panel of judges brings all the star power the show needs! Atif Aslam, Fawad Khan, Meesha Shafi all under one banner is as exciting as it can get, with each star holding great hits to their name.
Swag factor
Coke Studio: Ali Zafar has always been Coke Studio’s ‘rockstar’, and he pulls it off just right, while QB has a natural built in swag!
Pepsi BOTB: While Fawad is a silent charmer, Meesha and Atif have the cool attitude and performance skills one associates with super stars.
Style quotient
Coke Studio: Stylist Ehtesham Ansari has always worked his magic on each Coke Studio celeb according to their persona, and will be doing the same this season. We wonder if anything will top Ali Zafar’s ‘rockstar’ jacket, by Ali Xeeshan from season 8, this time?
Pepsi BOTB: The stylist for the celebs is unknown, but we do know that Meesha Shafi is a style icon is every sense of the word! Sources also tell us that Republic by Omar Farooq has been Fawad’s go-to choice this time too, a brand that has always suited him well.

USP
Coke Studio: The show brings about unique collaborations plus a great twist to sufi and folk music. It’s responsible for bringing forgotten classics back to the masses.
Pepsi BOTB: Battle of the Bands is clearly a reality show/game show format in which young and unknown musicians will compete for the title. It’s a format to cultivate the hidden talent in our country.
Main attraction
Coke Studio: Lots of renowned and classic singers are on board, but it seems Danyal Zafar’s debut, along with his duet with Momina Mustehsan happens to be the focal point for now. We will have to see if he lives up to the expectations.
We’re looking at Danyal Zafar and Momina Mustehsan’s chemistry
Pepsi BOTB: Fawad Khan, enough said. The superstar’s comeback into music, plus seeing him on our screens after too long a hiatus is going to be a treat for everyone!
We are equally excited about both shows, and can’t wait for the face off to take off!
