Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed have finally reunited to work in a project after their hit drama serial, Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Though this won’t be a drama serial that will air on television, it is still a dream come true for their fans who waited for 10 years to see them sharing a screen together. The untitled Zee5 web series has been directed by Asim Abbasi, who has feature film Cake and web show Churails to his credit.
Asim recently took to Instagram and announced that they have wrapped up the shoot and are now entering the post-production phase.
“Leaving LimboLand in 3, 2, 1… As our shoot comes to its bittersweet conclusion (and a whole new journey through postproduction begins)… Grateful to all the warriors who stuck around. Grateful that we made it. (And grateful that my baby boy could be with me on the final day),” he wrote, adding the duration of the shoot which began on 25th September, 2021 and ended on 25th February, 2022.

The yet-to-be-titled series is frequently called LimboLand and Beyond the Mountains by the director, and some rumours even speculate that it is titled Barzakh [limbo] which is a title of an EP song. But nothing has been finalized yet.

Fawad, who is not active on social media, also shared his thoughts on the series on Instagram earlier.

According to Variety, “The series blends magical realism and supernatural fantasy with a family reunion. Khan plays a single parent who, with his son, tries to be every bit the father his own father wasn’t. Saeed plays the central female character in the series. Harbouring otherworldly secrets, she takes it upon herself to heal, and make whole, everyone who surrounds her.”
“This is a very personal project for me. The shoot which spanned over five months has been the most challenging experience of my life but also the most rewarding,” Abbasi said in an interview with Variety. “The ensemble have done a beautiful job, and given some career best performances. While we have had many eventful days shooting for the series, the last day of the shoot was particularly action-packed. I remember the car we were supposed to shoot with didn’t work, so we used my personal car instead. During the shot, Fawad really had to burn the rubber, as he had to do a u-turn on a single lane road. It was a perfect shot but now I need new tyres.”
The series was shot on location in Karachi and the picturesque Hunza valley.
Unfortunately, despite releasing good Pakistani content, the Indian streaming portal — Zee5 — is not accessible to Pakistanis, and nothing substantial has been done to resolve the issue.
