Mehwish Hayat — who has blockbuster films like Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Actor in Law to her credit — has said that she wants her next project to be an action film.
During a press meet for upcoming film 3 Bahadur: Rise of the Warriors – for which Mehwish has lent her voice — director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy said that she is looking forward to girls going to the cinema and watching the film that represents women. “I am excited about all the young girls that will go and watch the film. You go watch Batman, Superman and then there’s a film with many Bahadurs and majority of them are female Bahadurs. And it’s a very strong message to be giving in a country like Pakistan. I want that when our children see women, they see them as strong and capable, dynamic. Not as weak because Pakistani women are not weak. And of course, you want to see some amazing Pakistani women in fight sequences,” Sharmeen said.

This prompted a response from Mehwish, who said she definitely wants to be in an action film now. “Yes! You were asking what I want to do next so, I want to do an action movie next for sure.” She added that Hollywood took its time to bring forth a female superhero (Wonder Woman) so, compared to that we are certainly ahead. “Even for them, it took so long to bring a woman superhero. So, I think we are in the right direction, we are advancing, bringing an animated movie and bringing women superheroes; that’s a great step forward.”
Mehwish was last seen on the big screen this year in Load Wedding opposite Fahad Mustafa and received lots of appreciation from cinemagoers for her spectacular performance. She will be heard voicing the character of Erma in the third film of the 3 Bahadur trilogy.
The movie releases on 14th December nationwide.
