Maisie Williams, better known as Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, recently opened up about how her role in the show made her conscious of her body. The 22-year-old English actress talked about feeling ashamed of her maturing body as the creators of the show altered her figure so much, making her conscious.

In a recent interview she said, “Around Season two or three, my body started to mature and I started to become a woman, but Arya was still very much like trying to be disguised as a boy. I had to have really short hair and they’d constantly cover me in dirt and shade my nose so it looked really broad and I looked really manly. They’d also put this strap across my chest to flatten any growth that had started and that just felt horrible for six months of the year, and I felt kind of ashamed for a while.”

Williams portrayed Arya Stark, a headstrong, feisty independent tomboyish girl, who hates the conventional gender role that is assigned to women. The Emmy Award nominee has been profusely lauded for her performance in GoT and has won several awards for it.

Aside from her role in the hit HBO show, Williams has acted in movies such as Then Came You. She is also an entrepreneur and has an app by the name ‘Daisi’ which provides creative individuals a platform to interact and collaborate with one another. She also owns a production company named ‘Daisi Chain Productions.’ The growing production house creates UK-originated short films, theatrical features and high-end TV shows.
