The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the ethos of the entertainment industry worldwide in the last couple of months. While everything from television, films, fashion and shopping has shifted to a digital medium, it is high time to take the next plunge and change Pakistani industry according to this new world order. HUM TV has taken the lead and announced the first-ever digital awards show in Pakistan with their latest venture: Kashmir HUM Social Media Awards 2020, powered by Facebook.
Scheduled to go live soon, the digital awards has not only successfully brought the largest internationally-recognized social media platform, Facebook onboard, but HUM TV will also be the pioneer in setting benchmarks for customary award shows. The award show will recognize individuals working in different fields; from entertainment to sports, music to fashion, and content creation to hosting, talent will be given its due.
Talking about the concept, President HUM Network, Sultana Siddiqui expressed: “Social media has the power to engage and motivate on a global scale. It is an appropriate time that we recognize and celebrate all the inspiring individuals working in different fields of entertainment genre, who have proved their mettle digitally with years of hard work and dedication. I am very proud of this initiative as this is the first time that a TV channel in Pakistan has collaborated with Facebook to recognize the potential of social media. This event will be a stepping stone in encouraging and inspiring young and emerging content creators to utilize their platforms and their abilities to create meaningful and impactful content.”
Criteria
The criteria of these awards and selection of nominees is based purely on their social media presence and their achievements across all platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and blogs in the entertainment genre etc. The nomination list is finalized purely on the basis of their social media followers/subscribers, interaction rate and content created between July 2019 to June 2020, using Facebook Authentic Tool.
Voting
The nominees will be put up for audience voting via website, giving the audiences locally and globally the opportunity to vote for their favourite stars. The voting lines will open from September 10 till September 22, 2020.
Hosts & Performances
The awards ceremony will be hosted by Yasir Hussain and Mooroo on Friday 2nd October, 2020 at 9pm and will have a special performance by the melodious Asim Azhar.

Transmission
All the winners will be part of the show via audio/video calls and many celebrities are expected to be a part of the live transmission. The awards ceremony will be streamed on HUM official Facebook page.
