Geo TV’s Ramazan serial, Chaudhry and Sons presents a house full of characters that are hilarious, witty, adorable and sensible at the same time. Not everyone in the Chaudhry Villa is perfect but they are fun loving people. From the patriarch Chaudhry Dildar Hoshiarpuri to the youngest member Bunty Chaudhry, all men and women in the house have their own quirks but what remains constant is their playfulness. The Chaudhrys take pleasure in teasing each other but equally care for each other.

Each year, the visionary producers Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi strive to produce content that delivers a message of learning and reflection for the audience. 7th Sky Entertainment has always been a pioneer and trendsetter in producing quality and objective-based content. And this time it is no different.

Impressive and high production quality and larger than life visuals of Chaudhry and Sons give a grand look and feel to the overall project and reflect the utmost efforts of the producers for not compromising on the production values ever. The wonderful direction of Syed Wajahat Hussain also adds a homely touch to the drama.

The drama boasts of many first times: Imran Ashraf is playing hero in a full blown rom-com on television for the first time; his romantic interest is Ayeza Khan, making it a different on-screen couple. Imran and Ayeza have nailed their contrasting characters as Billu Chaudhry and Pari. Chaudhry and Sons stars renowned names from the industry namely Sohail Ahmed, Usman Peerzada, Noor ul Hassan, Irsa Ghazal, Asma Abbas, Shagufta Ejaz, Yasir Nawaz and many more who have aced their roles. The drama also features Beenish Chohan, Saqib Sumeer, Madiha Rizvi, Zoya Nasir, Sami Khan and Hammad Shoaib.

Chaudhry and Sons

Though at the surface the drama looks like a lighthearted watch which will give you a hearty laugh, there are several layers intelligently knitted in the storyline by Saima Akram Chaudhry. It talks about the rigid values where family elders don’t allow children to marry outside their biraadari. They will not budge even if they struggle to find a suitable match for a son or daughter in their caste. And in case a member of the family breaks this rule, he/she will be excommunicated for life, as it happened with Sabahat Chaudhry (Pari’s mother).

There is abundance of love and humour among the family members in the Chaudhry Villa, but there is also a silent understanding that Chaudhry Dildar has the last word in every matter. Ultimately, the story is about familial bonds, the shackles of some orthodox values, and reunions.

Every character in Chaudhry and Sons has a flavor of its own that is not to be missed. But it’s hard to love every character equally in your favoruite show as everyone has biases.

Here are the top 5 favourite characters that are hilarious and will be hard to forget.

1. Sohail Ahmed as Chaudhry Dildar Hoshiarpuri

Undoubtedly, no one can match the witty style of Sohail Ahmed when it comes to play a pure Punjabi dada. He is Billu’s beloved granddad, the decision maker in the family but he is not a serious fellow. The pehlwan who runs a transport business adores his grand kids and eldest bahu Nimmo, teases his veterinarian son, and cracks jokes at his eldest son’s white hair. The Chaudhry Senior also has a secret love interest, his ex-flame and forever love Dr. Salma. He has got the gift of the gab and his witty one liners will always stay with viewers.

2. Irsa Ghazal as Malika Dadi

Irsa Ghazal plays Pari’s dadi who has single-handedly raised the girl and now wants her to reunite with her maternal family. Malika dadi is a former principal who loves to add the tarhka of English in every sentence. Her life revolves around Pari and her digest stories about Tehseen. Irsa Ghazal has breathed life into her quirky character and the way she fits an English word, phrase, or proverb in her dialogues evokes giggles naturally. It is evident why Pari lives in a dream world because she was nurtured by a grandmom who is so imaginative and fun.

3. Imran Ashraf as Bilal Chaudhry aka Billu/ Bills

It is apt to give the title of Chaudhry Junior to Billu Chaudhry because he is the eldest grandson of Chaudhry Dildar and the apple of his eye. Billu is an urbanised shokha, for the lack of a better word, who has no ambitions in life except marrying Emma Watson and roaming in his yellow jeep. Imran Ashraf’s portrayal of a carefree, flunking, aimless Billu is to the point. His sense of style is as colourful as the characters of his house and he has got wordplay in inheritance. Despite his shortcomings, he is a gem of a person who is constantly locking horns with Pari. The two will eventually fall for each other and that change of heart is to watch out for.

4. Ayeza Khan as Parisa aka Pari

Ayeza Khan is a versatile actress and she has proved that time and again. Pari became an orphan when she was a toddler, so she is a naive girl who doesn’t understand the complications of the world. She is carefree yet sincere and loving. Her world revolves around her grandmom and two parrots. However, she is discovering new emotions and relationships during her stay in Chaudhry Villa. Ayeza has done full justice to the character and her on-screen chemistry with Imran Ashraf is mesmerizing. They bicker and resolve issues in a very cute way and we can’t wait to see the episodes when Billu and Pari will fall for each other.

5. Noor ul Hassan as Shakir Chaudhry aka Shakay

Noor ul Hassan plays the most sensible character in this rom-com. As Shakir Chaudhry, he is one of the caretakers of the family business who stands up for others in need. He is concerned about Billu’s future, is the first one to find out about Pari’s truth and is kind and considerate to feel for his sister’s ordeal. However, Shakir with his infamous salt and pepper ponytail, has inherited his father’s sense of humour. There is not a dull moment when Shakir sits with the Chaudhry clan.

These may be our favourite characters but in no way can one downplay the appreciation for Asma Abbas for clicking into her role so well or Saqib Sameer for his versatility. Produced by 7th Sky Entertainment and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, the drama airs on Geo Entertainment every day in Ramazan.
