The eleventh edition of the non-fiction film festival in Kathmandu, Nepal is set to take place from November 2nd-5th.
In its 20th year now, the festival will screen 63 documentaries that are selected from over 300 submissions. This year’s theme is ‘Documentary Bears Witness’, and the festival includes five Pakistani documentaries in its lineup.
A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s Oscar and Emmy winning documentary follows a rare survivor of honour killing in Pakistan.

Perween Rahman: The Rebel Optimist
AÂ documentary about social worker Perween Rahman, whose notable work on sanitation in the Karachi-based Orangi Pilot Project led to a collision with the mafias in the city and ultimately caused her killing.
Among the Believers
The film is about cleric Abdul Aziz Ghazi, a suspected Daesh supporter and Taliban ally, who wants to impose a strict version of Shariah law in the state. Made by Oscar and Emmy-winning editor Trivedi and Emmy-winning filmmaker Naqvi, the film has won many global accolades around the world.
Lyari Notes
Captured over a period of three years, the documentary follows four young girls from Lyari who are attending musician Hamza Jafri’s music school.
K2 and the Invisible Footmen
The film follows the lives of Pakistani porters and Nepali Sherpas as they risk their lives to earn a living in the treacherous Karakoram range. The film also follows the first official all-Pakistani climbing team, who successfully summited in 2014 in celebration of K2’s 60th anniversary.
