Everything we know about Sajal Aly’s upcoming film ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’

After carving a niche for herself in the local film and drama industry, Sajal Aly made her presence felt in Bollywood with Mom alongside late legendary actor Sridevi. The powerhouse of talent can currently be seen on the big screen in Khel Khel Mein, while her strong presence is loved by viewers in Ishq E Laa and Sinf e Aahan. Even after giving us three projects back to back, Sajal isn’t slowing down as everyone knows she is soon going to make her international debut in Jemima Goldsmith’s romantic comedy What’s Love Got To Do With It?

Sajal recently shared the first look of her character from the sets of the film, and it looks like audiences are in for a surprise as the actor looked smokin’ hot and a formidable spirit. She is wearing an eastern ensemble, dolled up in matha patti and wearing black henna, while a makeup artist is curling her hair.

The actor, who is fond of old songs, captioned the picture: “Aisay na mujahy tum daikho!”

Earlier, it has been reported that the film is written and produced by Jemima, and it will be Shekhar Kapur’s directorial return since his 2007 Oscar-winning production Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

According to a report by the Deadline, the film is said to be a cross-cultural rom-com revolving around love and marriage and is set between London and South Asia.

“It’s a story of identities,” reported Variety quoting Shekhar Kapur. “It’s about cultural clashes and it’s a comedy, but it’s about hiding behind an identity and how identities can become tribal, and how tribalism can lead to clashes and fundamentalism. It’s a romcom, but based on this fundamental idea of people adopting identities out of fear of marginalization.”

Other cast members include Lily James, Shazad Latif, Emma Thompson, Rob Brydon, Asim Chaudhry and Shabana Azmi.

British DJ, record producer, songwriter and musician Shahid Khan, known by his stage name Naughty Boy, also shared that he will be making music for the film.

It also reported that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has sung a song titled Mahi Sohna for the film, though no official announcements have been made.
