PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan survived an ‘assassination attempt’ on Thursday evening during the party’s Haqeeqi Long March in Wazirabad. Faisal Javed and Ahmed Chatta amongst other party workers were also injured in the attempt.
According to reports, Imran Khan was shot in the leg and received medical treatment at Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Lahore. As soon as the unfortunate news started circulating on media, Pakistani celebrities condemned the attack and sent well wishes and prayers to the former PM.
The news we dread…
Thank God he’s okay. And thank you from his sons to the heroic man in the crowd who tackled the gunman. https://t.co/DGoxlJGwxb— Jemima Goldsmith (@Jemima_Khan) November 3, 2022
Attacks on leaders of any political belief or party are always wrong. And violence is never an acceptable protest. Wishing @ImranKhanPTI a full recovery.

The attack on @ImranKhanPTI and his supporters is completely unacceptable, and I strongly condemn this violence. It has no place in politics, in any democracy, or in our society. I’m wishing a speedy recovery to Imran and all who were injured today.

What a shame on Pakistan that calls itself democracy. They didn’t even spare the founding fathers of this country. #Shame #Imrankhan #imrankhaninjured https://t.co/PqRrHPLiOA

Shaken to the core.
We have as a nation, lived through so much violence.Seen our leaders hung, shot, blown up by bombs.Witnessed our people, children being blown apart, torn apart. We have deep flaws but we have an even deeper beauty in our soul, our narrative.I will not lose hope 4 us— Nadia Jamil (@NJLahori) November 3, 2022
Classic assassination attempt apparently. Multiple shooters, firework diversion and bs coverup story. This is an open act of war against IK.
To the powers that be, call elections NOW and stop this madness before this country goes up in flames!#assassination

Had the worst happened (Nauzubillah), this country would have gone into a state of anarchy.— Osman Khalid Butt (@aClockworkObi) November 3, 2022
I remember the dark, depressing days n time after the assassination of Shaheed mohtarma BeNazir Bhutto. God forbid had anything fatal happened to @ImranKhanPTI no one can imagine what would erupt. If this is his spirit after being shot 3-4 times in the leg we do need to #ImranKhan pic.twitter.com/6hq050rN5S

Pakistan is a democratic nation, and a leader from any party can proceed to have a march or rally, as long as it is peaceful.
Freedom of speech is a right we all have, and I condemn anybody who resorts to violence.
It is cowardly to attack people in such a manner!#ImranKhan
