With the film festival circuit on full-throttle, the BFI London Film Festival is the latest to make waves. Selecting films from more than 60 countries, the festival began on 4th October. However, apart from all the other narratives to celebrate, the inclusion of Sabiha Sumar’s Azmaish is what has gotten us excited.
Starring Sabiha herself and Indian actor Kalki Koechlin – who traverse their countries to examine a radically changing political landscape and the rise of intolerance, the film looks at the Subcontinent and its socio-cultural framework.
Returning to the LFF with an incisive and personal search for the future of her country through the film, Azmaish is the only Pakistani film to screen at the film festival.
London Film Festival will continue till 15th October and features various discussions and film screenings throughout its running, which also includes a conversation with Jake Gyllenhaal, Guillermo Del Toro, and David Fincher amongst others.
