The renowned author of books like The Case of Exploding Mangoes, Mohammed Hanif has been bestowed with the third-highest civilian award of Pakistan – the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his literary work and activism.
Known for his satire and ever-witty remarks, the author is an outspoken critic against governmental and social wrongdoings – apart from penning his best-selling books, which explore topics of injustice, state brutality, and enforced disappearances.
Mohammed Hanif also took to Twitter to acknowledge the news – of course, in his own style.
“Thank you all for your lovely messages. Now can someone please tell me how does one collect it because GoP is a bit coy on the subject,†Mohammed Hanif wrote. “Thrilled at the prospects of meeting fellow winners Fidel and Amanullah. Hope we all get to party with President Mamnun.â€
