Legendary playwright Anwar Maqsood’s much-awaited theater play Saadhay 14 August will be staged at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, after Eid ul Fitr.

This was revealed at a press conference on Wednesday, which was held to announce the play. Anwar Maqsood has previously written Poonay 14 August in 2011. Three years later, he wrote Sawa 14 August, and now it seems it is the turn of the next in the series.

Talking about the subject of the play, Anwar Maqsood said: “In the play, a man files a case against Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Gandhi as to who is responsible for the decline of a huge state such as India — three countries were made out of it — India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. If this was still a country at this point in time, then how big a state that would be. You will have to watch it to find out what happens. You will get to watch this play in Arts Council Karachi after Eid.”

Arts Council president Ahmed Shah shared that the drama will run in Karachi for two months. Later, it will travel to Islamabad and Lahore. Not much has been revealed about the cast as of yet.

Saadhay 14 August is directed by Dawar Mehmood. It is a joint production of KopyKats and Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi.
