Karan Johar gave a big shout out to his fans, who helped the teaser of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil cross 8 million views merely hours into its public release. What else did you expect though. With a cast boasting Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Fawad Khan and Anushka Sharma, it was a cinch to get everyone’s attention. And more than anything else, which was the last Karan Johar film (written and directed by him) that we could resist? Can’t think of a single one. Here’s what we’ll have to make do with until ADHM makes its Diwali release.
Fawad’s ‘blink and miss’ but memorable appearance
We know that Fawad Khan has a role which is a little stronger than a cameo; he plays a ‘special, important’ character, if you may. And he could very well have been eliminated from the teaser altogether but here we see him, in full bearded glory, throwing a shit fit at Ranbir and leaving us wishing for more.
Aishwarya totally overshadows Anushka
The Bachchan bahu sure chose her moment to step out of her begum avatar and completely overshadow the younger Anushka Sharma. And you know what, we’re kind of also sick of seeing Anushka as the initially bubbly and carefree/adventurous girl who meets adversity head on and crashes into a dark place. Think Band Bajaa Baaraat, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, even Dil Dhadakne Do and you’ll know what we mean.
One-sided, unrequited love
Coming from Karan Johar we know this will be beautiful and glamorous, not dark and melancholic. We know the soundtrack will be good and the characters beautiful. That said, does ADHM appear to be an advanced continuation of Kabhi Alvidaa Naa Kehna? It may seem so but we hope not. Moreover, K.Jo always used to name his films with the letter K and that, he said, was his good luck charm. Let’s hope this one is as lucky, with or without the K.
