With period-dramas once again making a buzz on Pakistani television screens, it seems everyone wants to be a part of this bandwagon. The most recent one to do so is Adnan Siddiqui with his upcoming show, Ghughi.
The upcoming period drama is reportedly an intense romance saga between a Muslim and a Hindu with all their fears, differences, morals and traditions at stake. Produced under Adnan’s banner, it also stars the actor as a protagonist.
Speaking to Instep, the actor also revealed the inspiration for his show.
“It’s a period play based on Amrita Pritam’s novella,†Adnan said. “After Dastaan nobody began to make period dramas. With Ghughi we aim to explore the genre yet again; it was a challenging task for a private production as opposed to channels but everyone was very supportive throughout the journey.â€
The show is being directed by Iqbal Hussain and written by Amna Mufti, and will go on air this month.
