Acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine tumour a few months back; the news left his fans shattered and his film projects on hold. He has been undergoing treatment in London and his fans apparently have a reason to rejoice as he seems to be getting better; at least better enough to get back to work. The Piku actor has agreed to do the sequel to his hit film, Hindi Medium.
If reports are to be believed, the makers of Hindi Medium flew down to London to meet the actor and narrate the script to him. Post the meeting, Irrfan gave his nod to star in the sequel to Hindi Medium. So that’s definitely heartening to know!
The sequel will be produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. According to reports, the plot will fast forward ten years and narrate the next part of the story of Raj, the character played by Irrfan.
We would have loved to see Saba Qamar, who was brilliant in the film as Raj’s wife Mita Batra, but given the cross-border situation, that seems unlikely. Let’s see who replaces her and whether or not the new actress does justice to the role.
