Anchorperson and TV host Rabia Anum took a stand for the victims of domestic abuse as she walked out of Nida Yasir’s live morning show on Tuesday.
Rabia was invited to the show Good Morning Pakistan on ARY Digital as a guest along with Fiza Ali and Mohsin Abbas Haider. She was already seated when the show began and she came to know about the remaining guests. However, Rabia quickly excused herself as she didn’t want to sit throughout the show where a alleged perpetrator of domestic abuse was also a guest.
She humbly apologized to Nida Yasir after a few minutes and explained her reasons of walking out. “I want to apologize beforehand to you, Nida, for what I am about to say. You know I love you. This team and this channel are very dear to me. We are talking about childhood mistakes right now but there are some mistakes that stay with you your whole life. I don’t want to make such mistakes here today,” she said.
Rabia had been vocal against Mohsin Abbas after his former wife Fatima Sohail revealed that she had been a victim of domestic abuse during their marriage. Without taking any names, Anum hinted about Mohsin’s domestic abuse case.
“There is a issue close to me for which I have taken a strong stand i.e. domestic abuse. When I came to your show today, I knew that Fiza will be here but I wasn’t aware of any other guests. I believe if my smallest action can help my daughter or anyone out there then I have to comply. I know you (Nida) are a responsible person. But I think if I sat through this show today then tomorrow, I won’t be able to face my friends, my colleagues and all those girls who are the victims of abuse,” she said.
Rabia left the show right at the beginning after the first segment which has been edited out of today’s episode.
Soon after the recorded clips of the scenario circulated on social media, many lauded her stance as it takes courage to speak your heart out on a live show, especially in front of the person who is an alleged abuser. Netizens sent love her way on Twitter.

Massive respect for @RabiaAnumm for taking a consistent and bold stance against #DomesticViolence and wife beaters. Our TV screens are better off without them. https://t.co/l9FXmPDFZ6

It takes guts to take stand on a LIVE show for domestic abuse victims infront of an abuser. Just in awe of how gracefully she managed to do that. Rabia Anum is the kind of woman we all should look upto. Kudos to her! https://t.co/H8TxaTqjXO

Mohsin Abbas Haider was accused of physically abusing his wife, Fatima Sohail, in 2019. The actor had since categorically denied all allegations of violence levelled against him. The actor said that his wife’s allegations are all a part of a conspiracy against him being carried out by his “enemies” in the showbiz industry.
