The Ali Zafar regional song featuring Gul Panra and Fortitude Pukhtoon Core, ‘Larsha Pekhawar’ that released in September 2021, has hit 52 million views on YouTube in three months, making it the most watched Pakistani song of the year. The song, which was an immediate hit when it released, is a cover of a Pashto folk song and has been redone with contemporary notes and a fun, uplifting video.

News of the song’s success was shared by Lightingale Records, Ali’s studio, in a celebratory Instagram post.

The song came after the success of ‘Allay’, Ali Zafar’s tribute to the province of Sindh, which he performed with Urooj Fatima and rapper Abid Brohi in 2020.

‘Larsha Pekhawer’ has been directed by Waleed Akram with music by Hassan Badshah and choreography by Sonu Dangerous. In a note on the video, the song is: “Dedicated to my Pashtun brothers and sisters. A tribute to their vibrant culture, values and most of all bravery.”

Ali has been diversifying quite a bit and has been quite busy. ‘Allay’ was released in 2020, followed by a Chinese song that commemorated the 70 year friendship with China and then a K-Pop number for K Pop fans in 2021. He also released an extremely melodic naat, Balaghal Ula Bi Kamaalihi on the occasion of Shab e Miraj in May, which also got astounding response from his fans. He has also sung the title tracks for drama serials Mushk and Pehli Si Mohabbat.

Let’s see what the year 2022 has in store for him.
