Netflix is also releasing the film in Hindi. The streaming giant shared the voice-over cast and they’re all Bollywood’s A-list celebs.

Anil Kapoor will voice the friendly bear Baloo, Madhuri Dixit will play Mowgli’s adoptive wolf mother Nisha, Abhishek Bachchan will voice the black panther Bagheera, Kareena Kapoor Khan will lend her voice to the mysterious snake Kaa and Jackie Shroff will be the villian Shere Khan.

The English voice cast also includes Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan and Naomie Harris as Nisha.

The director has made it clear that this edition will be different from the Disney version. While everyone knows what experiences man-cub Mowgli had in the jungle, no one knows what happened when he returned to his village. Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle is about his return to the village and how he discovers the dark side of his kind, humans. He has to fight to protect his adoptive family and even his most feared enemies.

The Netflix version comes two years after Jon Favreau’s 2016 film for Disney, a live-action retelling of the beloved animated version from 1967. Penned by Callie Kloves, it is said to be more closer to the original 1894 Rudyard Kipling collected stories titled The Jungle Book.

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle will release in selected theatres on November 29, before releasing worldwide on Netflix on December 7.
