With the airing of her very first serial, Ghughi, Amar Khan has proven that she is not in the industry to wither away easily. With her mother, the veteran actor Fareeha Jabeen, backing her, what does the young blood have to offer to the nascent media industry? She reveals…

“My first action call was given to me right in my mother’s womb, I guess,” Amar said. “My mother  has been working in this industry for the past 25 years.”

However, it’s not just the genes that can take all the credit. Amar is a film graduate from BNU in Lahore and has since then been a part of notable film festivals in the domestic and international circle too.

“I’m a film graduate myself!” The actress explained. Thus, it was in this fiery shell where I made dirty zero-budget films, marched on to stage for various theatre plays, acted in short films and attended prestigious festivals, that my short films won me recognition both domestically and internationally. For pursuing it more vigilantly I also traveled to India and New York for art conventions and intensives.”

Having said that, despite her previous work, what she had in front of her in the media industry has been a whole new ballgame. Whether it was Ghughi, or Chashme Num, or her upcoming project Belapur Ki Dayan, the actress is trying to get a strong footing into the industry.

Amar Khan

Amar Khan will portray a witch who’s part of a satanic cult in her upcoming show.

“Before Ghughi, I wrote a telefilm for Hum tv titled, Chashme Num based on two blind people,” Amar said. “It has been an enriching journey so far. I have been blessed with some well rounded and mind-boggling characters right at the beginning of my career. From a blind girl to an abducted Hindu woman, now I will be essaying a vicious witch.”

Amar claims that her next project, Belapur ki Dayaan directed by the brilliant Saife Hassan, will surely be Pakistan’s first ‘realistic’ horror project.

“There are some offers that you only get once in your career span,” Amar said. “With Belapur ki Dayan, Momina Duraid and Saife Hassan are offering me a zone where I perform a role that sparks hysteria and showcases a satanic cult. Also, I’m playing characters from two different time periods, one of a fragile innocent girl of the 80’s reading Parveen Shakir’s shayari and the other, a current time period sarcastic and ruthless Dayan who is there to attain revenge.”

With Amar’s stint as a witch set to air soon, and her current role in Ghughi already garnering her attention, one has to see what’s truly next for her!
