Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biopic on famous poet Sahir Ludhianvi has had a last minute cast shuffle and will now be starring Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan together!
Priyanka Chopra, who was originally supposed to play the leading lady, for reasons unknown, has opted out. The director then chose Aishwarya to play Amrita Pritam, who was the love interest of the poet, while Abhishek was cast as the main lead. The biopic will be directed by debutante Jasmeet Reen and is set to begin shooting early next year.
The junior Bachchan couple was last seen together in Raavan, in 2010 and this will be their ninth film together. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aishwarya Rai together have put forth quite a few hits like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, and Guzaarish. Will the Bachchan couple bring out audiences for this biopic, or will Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s reputable work alone be able to do the trick? Time will tell.

The renowned director is currently also in talks with Shah Rukh Khan for another project, which might star Kangana Ranaut and SRK together.
