With the word ‘Karachi’ turning into a synonym for danger, it really isn’t the first place one thinks of when we say fashion, culture, lifestyle or even happiness. However, if like the Divas of Karachi, the city excites you, then you’re in love with the metropolis for the long-run!
A documentary series directed by renowned filmmaker Senain Kheshgi of The Diplomat fame, Divas of Karachi focuses on a group of prominent socialites, who run their own businesses while juggling the chaotic demands of family life in the chaotic city.
We can see quite a few familiar faces in the documentary series, some of which include Mohsin Sayeed and Hadia Khan from The Pink Tree Company. Apart from the two, the series also includes Nazneen Tariq, Uzma Khan, and Ainee Shahzad, who are all part of high society in the city, according to the series.
Made for the US independent TV channel ITVS, Divas of Karachi is a bold mix between reality TV humor and cinema verité as it follows a group of Pakistani trendsetters through their daily lives. They’re fashion designers, wives and mothers, interior decorators, entrepreneurs, teachers, and philanthropists – sometimes, all at once, and that’s what makes this a hoot to watch.
Although only the first episode has been released, the docu-series aims to delve deeper into the stories of the featured women.
