The 2019 ICC World Cup is all set to kick off and excitement levels are off the charts! The opening party of the much awaited tournament was held yesterday in England, with all the captains of the participating teams in attendance to meet Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry.
And while all the other captains were dressed in formal suits, our very own Sarfaraz Ahmed decided to take the route less traveled and showed up in a traditional shalwar kameez, with a green team blazer to complete the look.

Fans were delighted to see the captain flaunt the country’s national dress at an international event, and it sent local social media into a frenzy, with fans praising him for sticking to his roots and for representing Pakistan in the best way possible.

It is safe to say that Sarfaraz has already managed to win hearts around the country. Here’s hoping that the team follows suit!
Pakistan will play their first match of the tournament against West Indies on Friday, May 31 at Nottingham’s Trent Bridge.
