Usman Mukhtar has finally revealed the trailer of his upcoming short film Gulabo Rani. The trailer shows us a glimpse of what to expect from the horror flick, however, what makes it more haunting is that it claims to be inspired by true events.
The 2-minute 7-second trailer begins with a warning that “the main work of haunting is done by the living.” Empty and dimly-lit corridors, flickering lights, creepy music and an eerie atmosphere envelops your mind from the first shot. Three students are living in a university hostel and are pulling a prank on a fresher by telling him spooky tales that their university is 150 years old.
It may have started as a case of gruesome ragging but it might turn into a story that will haunt them for lives. Will it be psychological trauma or something more sinister behind the mysterious circumstances, we will find in July. However, the bigger question remains unanswered that who is Gulabo Rani?
The cast includes a very enticing mix of young actors, namely Usama Javed Haider, Meiraj Haq, Danial Afzal, Natasha Ejaz and Omer Abdullah. Khushhal Khattak has a special appearance.
Directed by Usman Mukhtar, Gulabo Rani is the first project of Usman and Meiraj’s joint production house, Eastern Terrestrial Studios (ET Studios), in collaboration with Down Town Films and Channel Tek.
Ali Mudar, who has earlier written Usman’s award-winning short Bench, has also written the film along with This Millenial Rants. The film has songs by Natasha Ejaz, Nimra Gilani and MRKLE.
