The year 2018 marked the debut for Sara Ali Khan in Bollywood with two films. While her debut film Kedarnath earned mixed reviews, fans and critics are awaiting the release of her next highly anticipated film Simmba starring Ranveer Singh. Ahead of the release of her debut film, the actress revealed interesting details to an Indian online magazine about her transformation from 96 kilos to being fit and healthy in just a year-and-a-half!
In an exclusive interview with SpotboyE, Sara shared how she transformed from plus size to petite. “I was 96 kgs at that time — a fat girl — when I told my mother, sitting on the bed crying and saying, ‘Mom, all I want to do is become an actor.’ Then she said that you need to lose weight. And it took me about a year and a half to lose that weight.”

She also revealed that she was always a chubby girl and completed her degree in the United States in three years instead of four in order to return to India to start her film career. “For the first two years, I put on a lot of weight and then last year, I burned all those kilos there itself. I think America is the place where you can really choose. Jahaan aap ko pizza milta hai, waheen aap ko protein milta hai. Jahaan pe chocolate milta hai, wahin aap ko salad milta hai,” the Kedarnath actress stated.
When asked if the actress shared minute by minute detail of her transformation journey with her mother (Amrita Singh), she said, “I didn’t. September was the start of the semester and December was the end. In those four months, I even refrained from face-timing her. And, she recognized me at the airport only because of my suitcases; I was looking completely different. Obviously, 30 kgs down, you are going to look different.”
Her appearances in Kedarnath and Simmba are a testimony to her hard work and disciplined life that she has chosen to flourish as a movie star in Bollywood. Her forthcoming film, directed by Rohit Shetty, is all set to release on 28 December.
