A resident of Lahore, Asma Aziz, had made headlines last week after she alleged that her husband had brutally tortured her and shaved her head for refusing to dance in front of his friends. Not long after, another video surfaced on the social media showing Asma allegedly dancing and singing along to songs in a car. This divided opinions on social media as some people resorted to victim blaming. Sanam Saeed on Tuesday came out in support of Asma Aziz.

The actress took to Twitter and asked if people actually understand the meaning of consent?
“It’s like saying if a prostitute was raped it’s her fault anyway. When will some of you really understand the meaning of #consent??? An old leaked video of #asmaaziz dancing, does not justify her being tortured for refusing to dance when she doesn’t feel like it. Have mercy!†she tweeted.
Politicians and other prominent personalities have also highlighted the case on their social platforms.
