In a recent interview with fashion/lifestyle giant, Vogue, Rihanna opened up about a lot of personal things, including her stance on the current President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Talking about a number of things to the publication for its November issue, from her recently established fashion empire to her still-in-the-works album, the singer-turned-entrepreneur seems to be at her candid best. With the state of political affairs around the world, specially in the US, and her reputation as an outspoken woman of color, it is only natural that the interview took a turn towards politics.
Not one to conceal her opinions, Rihanna has often taken to her social media handles to voice her political concerns, and so when asked if she would want to discuss politics, she agreed almost immediately. One instance particularly stood out, where she had called the President out on his views about mass shooters.
Trump had earlier called the El Paso shootings in America a result of a mental illness problem, to which she had responded, “Um . . . Donald, you spelled terrorism wrong!†before diving into a lengthy reality check. Citing this instance, she was asked what she thought of the event, and she said, “Put an Arab man with that same weapon in that same Walmart and there is no way that Trump would sit there and address it publicly as a mental health problem. The most mentally ill human being in America right now seems to be the president.â€
The full interview can be found on Vogue’s website and is a lengthy foray into Rihanna’s life and the workings of her mind. An interesting read, the mega star has opened up about her multi-million dollar fashion and beauty empire, her plans with her 9th music album, her relationship with Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel and much more.
