After much anticipation and hype, the second edition of the Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) finally took place on November 5th at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, and the evening was well-attended by Pakistan’s crème de la crème as well as Emirati society. From A-list actors, designers, models to media personalities and social media influencers, the star-studded event was full of glitz, glam, winning moments and memorable performances.
Fortunately, our stars put their best foot forward and dressed to the nines. Many of them impressed us with their fashion choices this time. The highlight of the evening was that ladies opted to make the most of the six yards of wonder i.e. the graceful sari.
From Sana Javed, Hania Aamir, Sonya Hussyn to Iqra Aziz, amongst others, many beauties were dressed in the quintessential traditional wear and hit all the fashion notes right this time. Most of them opted for solids (jewel tones and neon both) or color-blocked saris but the looks ticked all the right boxes on fashion charts. However, some of the western styles were also a hit, for a change.

Looks we loved
Sana Javed looked like a diva in a beautiful emerald green sari by Umar Sayeed Couture. With sleek open hair, she opted for minimal makeup and accessories to let the sari shine. What you can’t see is the intricately embellished green blouse, which was glamorous to the max!
Sonya Hussyn wore a rust orange silk sari with shoulder embellishments. She paired the sari with ear cuffs and was seen in center-parted straight hair.
Iqra Aziz tried color-blocking and paired a fuchsia pink blouse with a turqouise sari. She completed the look with a heavy neckpiece and looked like a million dollars. This look more than made up for her earlier faux pas and we adore Iqra for it!
Designer Sania Maskatiya looked elegant in a pink floral sari by her label. It was a hybrid drape paired with straight pants. Fashion forward!
Hania Aamir was dressed in a plain muted gold/beige sari, complemented by a bold red pout. She looked stunning!
Ushna Shah looked breathtakingly beautiful in a black gown by Elan. The embellished details on her waistline made the outfit standout.
Parisheh James looked age appropriate, youthful and yet glamorous in a sparkling layered pink one-shoulder gown. That shoulder bow was fun!
Fahmeen Ansari raised the bar high in this dripping gold gown by Shehla Chatoor.
Social media star and Pawri girl Dananeer Mobin stayed true to her Pashtun roots as she was dressed in a green pishwas with indigenous multicolored work on the bodice.
Men in their classic looks
Black and white tuxedos were quite the trend at the PISA 2021 with Arslan Naseer, Nomi Ansari and Ahmed Ali Butt sporting the look. Ahmed wore a piece by Humayun Alamgir while Arslan was seen in an Emraan Rajput suit. While Ahmed and Arslan wore a black bowtie, Nomi was seen sporting a burgundy bow.
Hasnain Lehri experimented a bit and introduced a different colour at the red carpet. He was wearing a medallion tone jacket with his black pants, cummerbund and bowtie.
Affan Waheed looked dapper in a classic black-on-black look.
“With sleek open hair…” please note this is a direct translation from the Urdu/Hindi/Hindustani term “Khuley baal”. In English the correct expression is “loose hair” or “wearing your hair loose” (that is, hair that is not tied up or otherwise secured)

I have an essay in Microsoft Word format which I want to copy/paste into my blogspot blog. But every time I do this, I get error messages from blogspot about all the weird Word coding, and then it comes out looking all crazy format-wise. How can I strip the text of all the Word junk?. . I don’t know anything about HTML..
