It is that time of the year when we grab our headphones and charge our tablets because Coke Studio has announced its 10th season with the most exciting lineup yet. Featuring veterans like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Farhan Saeed, Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Ali Noor, Quratulain Balouch and young blood like Danyal Zafar, Aima Baig and Momina Mustehsan, it is sure to cause a stir if nothing else. Let’s just hope we get some more original music this year. While we are sitting tight and waiting for a much needed musical revolution, we sent our little birds out to find out what exactly was cooking this year.
While in the previous seasons Coke Studio really hit the right strings of our national pride by releasing beautiful and emotional renditions of songs like ‘Aye Rahay Haq Kai Shaheedon‘ (our personal favorite) and ‘Sohni Dharti‘, this year we can proudly confirm that the show is taking on the National Anthem ‘Pak Sar Zameen‘ and it will feature all of the 40 musicians participating in season 10, which has been composed and produced by the musical genius duo Strings.
The song is scheduled to release tomorrow at 6 PM, and is expected to push emotions in overdrive. We don’t expect to see a single dry eye in the house.
August is always a bittersweet time for us; we want to rejoice and celebrate the feeling of independence but in the midst of such political chaos and general air of gloom, achieving that can be hard. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to Coke Studio’s version of the National Anthem because it’ll pull at the heart strings, if nothing else.
