The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage announced that they are developing a new stage musical inspired by the life of Michael Jackson and hope it’s ready for Broadway by 2020.

The musical, which is still untitled, will be written by playwright Lynn Nottage, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, and directed and choreographed by Christoper Wheeldon, artistic associate of the Royal Ballet in London. The score will be an extract from Jackson’s hits, such as ‘Thriller’, ‘Smooth Criminal’ and many others. However the cast has not been revealed yet as it’s too early to do so.

Fans are curious whether or not controversial talking points like claims of sexual abuse from the star’s life will be featured. However the Estate said they will focus more on the positive aspects of Michael’s life.

Michael sold millions of records and became an international icon with the release of ‘Thriller,’ the best-selling album of all time with such hits as ‘Beat It’ and ‘Billie Jean’ in 1983. He won 13 Grammy awards.
