Meesha Shafi has recently released her new single titled Hot Mango Chutney Sauce and as soon as the video of the song came out, the title along with the singer lived up to their expectations. A funky collaboration of creative minds, Hot Mango Chutney Sauce is a mood in itself. From direction, production, lyrics, performances, styling to music arrangement and production value, everything is quintessentially quirky, unapologetically funny yet very desi.
Starring Meesha Shafi, Swineryy, Zara Peerzada, Eman Suleman, Baemissal, Rubab Ali, Abdullah Siddiqui, Hashim Ali, the tune is dipped in neon lights and Punjabi tongue twisters, appetizing mangoes, disco-themed truck and dhaba.
It begins with the K3G’s famous dialogue with a Jimmy Choo twist and ends at a relevant comment by popular anonymous content creator Swineryy. Her heart stealing lines about consent are the highlight and a perfect conclusion to this song that should be on your must-watch list because it is an experience.
The song talks about our obsession with materialistic possessions and how we gauge a human’s worth by worldly power. Meesha laments that this is part and parcel of the showbiz industry and she has reflected upon it in the song. The electro-pop number has lyrics in English, Punjabi and Urdu, written and composed by Meesha.
Meesha has collaborated with a group of talented creatives to make this project happen. Singer, songwriter and music producer Abdullah Siddiqui has produced the song.
Awais Gohar and Meesha have directed the video which reminds us of a kaleidoscope. The credit for the off-beat looks goes to Qasim Liaqat, while Bushra Ansari’s daughter, Nariman Ansari and Meesha’s husband, Mahmood Rahman are behind Toronto’s production unit. That ensures that a crop of talented individuals are behind this visual masterpiece.
