Hadiqa Kiani made a powerful acting debut with Raqeeb Se starring alongside Naumaan Ijaz, Sania Saeed, Iqra Aziz and Faryal Mehmood.  Inarguably, the drama penned by Bee Gul and directed by Kashif Nisar is the most meaningful and complete drama we have recently watched, however, it has not won any nominations this year.

In a message to her supporters, the singer turned actor addressed why her drama has not been nominated at the LSAs.

“I’ve gotten so many messages of love and support for Sakina and Raqeeb Se today but something that needs to be clarified,” she wrote.

“Raqeeb Se did not qualify for this year’s Lux Style Awards but it may qualify for nominations next year based off of the Lux Style Awards’ year policy. So until then, let’s hold our pitchforks.”

“Congratulations to all nominees,” she concluded.

Raqeeb Se is a simple story of complex emotions, and that is the beauty of the play. While the drama failed to achieve the kind of viewership it deserved, it created a niche for itself and was enjoyed by those who crave intelligent and artistic content that goes beyond the cliché stories being shown on TV these days.
